Believing these winter real estate myths could cost you a lot on your home sale.

Today I’m dispelling some of the myths surrounding the winter real estate market.

Many people believe the market freezes in the winter, just like the weather. However, that’s not true at all. We see steady market activity in the winter because buyers like to stay in the market since it’s less competitive than other times of the year. Sellers often keep their homes on the winter market because they recognize and appreciate that any buyer shopping in the frigid months is clearly motivated.

Also, many people relocate near the end of the year, creating demand in the market. The reason for this is that many companies get their new budgets toward the end of the year, so they’re relocating people for new roles for the coming year.

An essential fact to know: The “spring market” is technically mislabeled. The spring market actually refers to the post-holiday market starting at the end of January; it doesn’t align with mother nature or the calendar. Here in the Twin Cities area, we certainly still have a ton of snow and frosty weather at that time.

Whether you’re preparing to sell in the winter or waiting until spring, it’s crucial to take action now and have a plan in place. Now is the time to speak to us about what you want to do in the coming months.

Please give us a call or send an email if you have any questions or are considering selling. We would love to talk with you and come up with a strategy to help you take advantage of the market.
